Writing Samples/Press Releases
I crafted AP-style press releases in inverted-pyramid style that not only gave the vital information but told the story of the institution.
The first press release I was responsible for resulted in a piece written by Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Shelia Poole, “Columbia Theological Seminary Takes Steps to Atone for Racial Past.” Working with Ms. Poole on this story enabled me to form a working relationship with her. This led to more press coverage from the newspaper, something that had eluded the institution in the past.
